The Steelers and Bengals clash in a matchup that could decide the winner of the AFC North. The path is clear for Pittsburgh: if they beat Cincinnati, they win the division. Lose, and they have to beat either the Colts or Browns to clinch it. This is a big game for a Pittsburgh team coming off two straight losses and we know Cincinnati would love to play spoiler. Let’s take a look at the matchup.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals
After looking like a well-oiled machine for much of the season, it seems Washington has exposed some weaknesses in the Steelers’ offense. More than that, however, the Steelers are shooting themselves in the foot. The entire team has caught a case of the dropsies over past few weeks, especially Diontae Johnson. Johnson has had a career-best season in large part due to the quickness at which Ben Roethlisberger is getting rid of the ball. Unfortunately, Johnson is beginning to lose the trust of the staff and needs to earn it back starting tonight. JuJu-Smith Schuster’s performance will also be key, and he’s really stepped it up as of late. The Bengals are allowing 26 points per game (22nd in the league) and I expect the Steelers’ offense to bounce back big here.
On the other side, the Bengals are reeling from the loss of Joe Burrow. Joe Mixon is still on IR, Ryan Finley is starting at QB, and they’ve scored no more than 17 points since Burrow’s injury. It’s a shame too; the offense was lighting it up before that fateful game against Washington. I don’t expect them to put up too much of a fight against one of the best defenses in the league.
NOTE: JAMES CONNER IS RULED OUT FOR THIS MATCHUP
Prediction: Bengals 13 Steelers: 33
